Not All Steel FenceIs Built The Same
Learn how Kuptz stacks up against other steel fences, and against every other fence on the market.
Kuptz Steel Vs. Other Steel
Kuptz Steel Fence was designed to be stronger, simpler, and more affordable than any other steel fence.
Affordability
Less concrete, smaller holes, and standard freight add up to real savings on every foot.
Strength
A stronger rail shape, plus a heavy-duty 16 gauge rail option, builds strength into the fence itself, with no add-on reinforcement.
Simplicity
Standard 8-foot spacing, conventional hardware, and simple-to-install gates make Kuptz easier to ship, lay out, and install.
Posts every 8 feet
Kuptz posts are set at a standard 8′ apart. Sticking to the industry standard keeps the fence cheaper and simpler to ship, easier to lay out, and a breeze for any fencing crew to work with.
Other brandsPosts set 9′ 7¾″ apart, odd spacing on non-standard parts.
Wider, stronger rails
The Kuptz rail is shorter and wider than competitor rails, which makes it stronger without any add-ons. 18 gauge rail, rated at 700 lbs.
Other brandsTaller and thinner rails, rated at 400 lbs. Requires a reinforcement insert to reach 700 lbs.
Takes far more force to dislodge
A Kuptz rail takes significantly more force to knock out of the post than other steel fences. It holds firm through the everyday bumps and leans of heavy animals, and only releases under a true impact, so the fence stays put when you need it to.
Other brandsRails bend under noticeably less force.
Crisp-cornered 3.5″ × 5″ posts
Kuptz posts have clean, 90-degree corners and the proportions of a traditional timber post, in standard dimensions that pair with any existing fencing.
Other brandsRounded-corner posts, a softer, more “metal tube” look.
Fewer custom parts
Kuptz uses a single universal rail lock across every post. Slide it in, lock the rails in place, done. No special-order components, no layout complications.
Other brandsEach post type requires its own unique rail lock, making orders more complex and fence layouts harder to plan.
Standard gates
Kuptz gates are standard, not custom. They hang on your existing fence posts with conventional hardware, and the gate rail count always matches your fence: 2, 3, or 4 rail.
Other brandsCustom gate posts and hardware to source and set.

Kuptz Vs. Other Steel Fence Brands
See how Kuptz post and rail dimensions compare to other steel fences. Our wider, shorter rail resists deflection and handles pressure better, spreading load across a wider base.
Steel vs. Every Other Fence
Every fence type makes a trade-off somewhere. Kuptz is engineered to avoid all of them.
- Wood Board
- A classic look with low initial cost and easy installation, but demands significant ongoing maintenance and isn’t ideal for horse safety.
- Plastic (Vinyl & PVC)
- Low cost and no painting, but it isn’t durable, isn’t eco-friendly, and isn’t safe for animals.
- Polymer-Coated Wire Flex
- Affordable and easy to install when not electrified, but weak on aesthetics, safety, and maintenance, and not ideal for windy climates.
- Welded Steel Pipe
- Ideal for cattle, yet expensive and time-consuming to install, industrial in appearance, hazardous for horses, and hard to adjust.
- Kuptz Steel Fence
- Engineered to win on every count, beautiful, animal-safe, long-lasting, and ecologically responsible, with none of the trade-offs above.

Engineered To Cost Less
Kuptz uses less concrete, smaller holes, and standard freight, so it costs less to put in the ground than other steel fences, and you keep the difference.
Less Concrete
About 2 bags of concrete per post instead of 3, so there’s far less to buy, mix, and haul.
Less Digging
Smaller holes mean about 43% less dirt to dig out, using equipment you already own.
Lower Shipping Costs
Standard pallets on standard trucks, with no forklift required to unload.
Concrete: The Per-Project Math
Other Steel Fence
- 3 bags of concrete per post, about 240 lbs
- ~315 bags per 1,000 ft across ~105 posts
- ~3.5 tons more concrete to haul, mix, and pour
- More crew hours spent mixing on site
Kuptz Steel Fence
- ~2 bags of concrete per post, about 144 lbs
- ~227 bags per 1,000 ft across ~126 posts
- 88 fewer bags, about 28% less concrete cost
- Less mixing and hauling, lower labor on the job
Smaller Holes, Less Labor
Other Steel Fence
- Bigger 12″ holes dug 43″ deep, about 2.8 cubic ft of dirt per hole
- Larger, deeper holes need heavy, specialized equipment, often rented
- Tight tolerances mean slower, fussier digging
- Odd 9′ 7¾″ spacing, extra time measuring every post
Kuptz Steel Fence
- Smaller 9″ holes dug 36″ deep, about half the digging per hole
- Smaller holes run on standard equipment most ranchers already own
- About 43% less total digging across the project, even with more posts
- Standard 8′ spacing, faster layout and less labor on the clock
Lower Freight, Standard Trucks
Other Steel Fence
- Custom steel crates over 1,600 lbs each
- Heavy crates require a forklift to unload
- Special tools just to break the crates down
- Ships on dedicated freight, higher delivery cost
Kuptz Steel Fence
- Standard pallets, posts and rails ship together
- Load from the end, the side, or sideways in a standard truck
- Unloads with just a pallet jack and lift gate, no forklift required
- Lighter, standard pallets are safer and easier to unload, for the installer and the customer
